AN INMATE sent a romantic interest a sexually explicit letter containing the story of an evil Santa and his sidekick.

Paul Etherington, 48, wrote the "fantasy" from Glasgow's HMP Barlinnie between September 2022 and April 2023.

He posted the unsolicited mail to a male "friend".

The lengthy letter included the sexual exploits of an evil Santa named 'Twiglet' and his sidekick called 'S***face'.

There was also a drawing of Tinkerbell from Peter Pan and the mail was signed off by 'Angelica'.

Etherington pleaded guilty to sending written sexual communication to the man without consent.

He also admitted a breach of bail by contacting the man.

The court heard that Etherington knew the man from 2017 when the victim was aged 16.

The pair later moved in together but Etherington was in custody when the man moved on and began a relationship with another person.

Prosecutor Redmond Harris told the court that Etherington sent the man a letter while behind bars.

He said: "The letter contained handwritten graphic sexually explicit content and fantasies.

"This was about rape and a physical threat at Christmas time by an evil Santa named Twiggy and his sidekick named S***face.

"There was a reference to the sidekick being in a cage.

"There were references to Twiglet biting the bottoms of victims."

The fiscal depute added that there were mentions of watching "screaming victims" and spit landing in mouths.

Mr Harris stated: "The letter was signed off with the name Angelica.

"The letter also contained child-like drawings and a coloured drawing of Tinkerbell."

The victim became upset at the letter and contacted authorities.

James Arrol, defending, told the court that the pair remain "friends."

The lawyer said: "Etherington did the letter from romantic or sexual feelings for the man.

"He misinterpreted the discussions they were having and he took things further. He accepts he was wrong about that and he shouldn't have done this."

Sentencing was deferred pending background reports until next month by Sheriff Collette Gallagher.

She said: "The communication was without his consent and these are depraved sexual fantasies."

Etherington was put on the sex offenders register and he had his remand in custody in the meantime.
