A person was rushed to hospital after being rescued from an embankment in Hamilton.

Mercy crews were called to reports of a person who had fallen down an embankment near Chatelherault Crescent in the town on Thursday, October 10.

Emergency services, including firefighters and paramedics, raced to the scene after the alarm was raised shortly after 5pm.

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service (SFRS) sent two fire trucks and specialist resources to the area.

Meanwhile, the Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) sent an ambulance and a special operations response team to the scene.

After that, fire crews recovered the person from an embankment and handed them into the care of medics.

They were then raced to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow.

A spokesperson for the SFRS said: “We were alerted at 5.27pm on Thursday, October 10, to reports of a person who had fallen down an embankment near to Chatelherault Crescent, Hamilton.

“Operations control mobilised two fire appliances and specialist resources to the area.

“Firefighters recovered a person from an embankment and handed them into the care of the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Crews left the scene after ensuring the area was made safe.”

A spokesperson for the SAS added: “We received a call at 7.25pm to attend an incident on Silvertonhill Avenue, Hamilton.

"We dispatched one ambulance and one special operations response team (SORT) to the scene.

"One patient was transported to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
