ScotRail has issued a warning ahead of a big event in Glasgow.

The rail firm gave travel advice for footy fans heading to the Scotland match at Hampden Park on Tuesday, October 15.

They will be heading to watch Scotland continue their UEFA Nations League campaign as they face Portugal at the national stadium at 7.45pm.

Ahead of the clash, the firm has warned fans to 'allow additional time for travel' as queuing systems will be in place at Glasgow Central before the game and at Mount Florida, the closest station to Hampden, after the final whistle.

Phil Campbell, ScotRail Customer Operations Director, said: “ScotRail is looking forward to helping fans travel to Hampden to cheer on their side in the latest fixture in the UEFA Nations League.

“We’ll be doing all we can to help you travel to the match by rail, with extra services operating to and from Mount Florida both before and after the match.

"Queuing systems will be in place, so please allow additional time for travel, and we will have extra staff on hand to assist you.

“Buying your return tickets in advance through our mTicket system on the ScotRail app will reduce your need to queue, and help your journey run smoothly.”

A spokesperson for the rail company added: "ScotRail will have extra staff on hand to assist customers, and the train operator is reminding everyone that the carrying and consumption of alcohol is prohibited on ScotRail trains and in ScotRail stations."
