A new cocktail and wine bar is set to open in the basement below Innis & Gunn in Glasgow city centre.
Plans for the venue, which will also offer “charcuterie style food”, were revealed at a meeting of the city’s Licensing Board.
Hospitality entrepreneur Alan Tomkins, whose family own and operates venues such as Ralph & Finns, Vroni’s and Malo, is behind the new project at 24 West Nile Street.

Licensing solicitor Chloe Crawford told board members: “My client owns a number of premises in Glasgow and is very experienced in the hospitality industry.
“Essentially what Alan and his team are looking to do here, in the unit below Innis & Gunn on West Nile Street, is a cocktail and wine bar with casual food.”
She added it would be “charcuterie style food” and the operators are “looking to have a number of activities on the premises, inclusive of the occasional live act such as individual musicians”.

Board members were also told the new bar would create around 15 jobs. They agreed to grant a provisional premises licence to the operators.
When Innis & Gunn received planning permission for its West Nile Street taproom in April 2022, the application revealed the beer company intended to subdivide the basement of the property to provide a separate venue.
It took over the site from Bill’s restaurant which closed at the start of the covid pandemic in March 2020 and didn’t reopen, surrendering the lease.
