A road outside a Glasgow primary school has been cordoned off by police after a child was hit by a car.

Emergency crews were called to Cumberland Street outside Blackfriars Primary School in the Gorbals at 3.08pm on Tuesday, October 15.

Police Scotland revealed they were alerted to a crash involving a car and a pedestrian on the street.

The Scottish Ambulance Service (SAS) sent two paramedic response units, a critical care paramedic, an ambulance, and a trauma team to the scene.

Following the incident, medics have said the youngster has been taken to the Royal Hospital for Children in Glasgow.

Meanwhile, an eyewitness said the street has been fully taped off. They also revealed officers were talking to locals in the area.

Police would not reveal any further information on the crash or the age of the pedestrian struck by the vehicle.

A spokesperson for SAS said: “We received a call today at 3.08pm to attend an incident on Cumberland Street in Glasgow.

"We dispatched two paramedic response units, a critical care paramedic, one ambulance and our trauma team to the scene.

"Our first resource arrived on scene within three minutes and we transported a child patient to the Royal Hospital for Children, Glasgow.”

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for Police Scotland added: "Emergency services are attending a road crash involving a car and pedestrian which occurred around 3.05pm on Tuesday, October 15, 2024, in Cumberland Street, Glasgow."
