An electricity substation serving Wishaw will be upgraded if North Lanarkshire Council agrees.
Scottish Power Energy Networks has requested planning permission to overhaul its substation in Gowkthrapple, which will also involve building a new access road and fencing.
The development would see the existing substation expanded with new equipment installed on currently empty land at the site, primarily in the form of a 132 kilovolt circuit breaker.
Scottish Power Energy Networks is a distribution and transmission network operator responsible for supplying electricity to homes and businesses, owning and maintaining a network of overhead lines and underground cables which spans Central and Southern Scotland, North Wales, Merseyside, Cheshire and North Shropshire.
