Investigations into the death of a man in Hamilton continue today.

Police were out in full force around the Burnbank Centre area this afternoon as they tried to piece together the events that led to the death of a 36-year-old man and the alleged attempted murder of a 59-year-old man yesterday.

A number of officers and police vehicles were spotted in the area this afternoon, with several sections of the road and pavement cornered off.

Cops said the 36-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene, and the 59-year-old man was taken by ambulance to hospital. His condition is unknown.

"We have an increased police presence in the area as we understand this could be a very upsetting and worrying time for the local community.

"Anyone with concerns is asked to speak to these officers.”
