A man who died in 'unexplained' circumstances in a Hamilton street has been identified. 

The force earlier revealed that they were called to Morgan Street in the town at around 6.55pm on Saturday, October 26.

A man they were yet to identify was rushed to University Hospital Hairmyres where he was pronounced dead. 

Now cops have confirmed that they know who the man was. 

He was 23 years old and officers have informed his next of kin of his death. 

A post-mortem will be carried out and at the moment, the force is treating the man's death as unexplained. 

More police will be in the area in the meantime and any local residents who are concerned can speak to officers. 

Chief Inspector Neil Smith said: “Around 6.55pm on Saturday, October 26, 2024, we were called to Morgan Street, Hamilton.

“A 23-year-old man was taken by ambulance to Hairmyres Hospital where he was pronounced dead. His next of kin are aware.

“Officers are currently working to establish the exact circumstances surrounding his death. A postmortem examination will take place in due course and the death is currently being treated as unexplained.

“There is an increased police presence in the area while officers carry out their enquiries and anyone with concerns is asked to speak to them.

“Anyone with information that may assist our enquiries is asked to contact 101 quoting reference number 2991 of 26 October.”
