UPDATE HERE.

A busy train line has been closed due to an ongoing police incident this morning.

ScotRail has said emergency crews are dealing with an incident between Motherwell and Lanark.

Due to this, the rail firm has revealed all lines in the area have been shut.

Meanwhile, Network Rail said they are currently assisting 999 teams dealing with the situation near Motherwell.

They said services on the West Coast Main Line in both directions face disruption due to the incident.

Currently, it is unknown what the incident is, however, we have contacted the British Transport Police for comment.

A spokesperson for ScotRail said: "Due to the emergency services dealing with an incident between Motherwell and Lanark all lines are closed.

"Customers to and from Motherwell can travel on low-level services."

 

 

A spokesperson for Network Rail added: "We’re assisting the emergency services who are dealing with an incident near Motherwell. 

"Services on the West Coast Main Line in both directions are being disrupted, we’ll share more info soon."

 

 

A National Rail spokesperson said: "The police are dealing with an incident in the Motherwell area. As a result, trains through this station may be delayed, cancelled or revised.

"Disruption is expected until 9.15am."

Meanwhile, an Avanti West Coast spokesperson added: "Due to emergency services attending an incident near the railway at Motherwell, all lines are blocked.

"Motherwell will not be served until further notice. Trains running through this station may be delayed, diverted or cancelled."
