A man who staggered into traffic in Glasgow threatened the cops helping him.

Officers received a call about Bernard Gallacher at 9pm on November 9 last year.

He was intoxicated and staggered in the middle of Bardowie Road, North Glasgow, into oncoming traffic.

Gallacher was shouting and swearing as officers guided him away and offered to take him home.

He refused this offer by shouting: “F*** you” and “F*** the police”.

The 52-year-old was grinding his teeth and staring at police officers as he continued: “I will batter the s*** out of yous.”

He was arrested. In response he clenched his fists and hit a police officer in the chest, so cops took him to the ground.

While there, he kicked a police officer’s legs, trying to make him lose his balance.

After he was taken to London Road police station, he called one cop a “dirty cow” and said: “F****** fat f***, I know where you live, I know what street you f****** live on.

"I will f****** smash your heads in, you f****** p*****”.

The North Glasgow man appeared at Glasgow Sheriff Court after he pleaded guilty to two charges of assaulting officers and behaving aggressively.

His solicitor said: "He has a record, which is fairly limited but not insignificant.

"He was sober for a long time before this offence and had a relapse.

"He is now engaging well with North West Alcohol and Drug Recovery services. He is on medication to assist with not drinking.

"He is apologetic and employed at Tesco supermarket. He has been having to take time out due to his health."

Gallacher was tagged for three months and ordered to stay in his home between 9pm and 7am each day.
