An investigation was launched after a video surfaced online which appeared to show a group vandalising a Subway carriage on Hallowe'en night.

The British Transport Police (BTP) is investigating after reports of the vandalism which took place before 9pm yesterday.

In the footage, a group of people could be seen, dressed in white and orange jumpsuits and wearing masks. They appeared to be spraying graffiti on a stationary train.

The incident is thought to have happened last night and the video clip was uploaded to social media site X but has since been removed.

SPT said they alerted the authorities and are working with BTP to find the perpetrators.

A spokesperson added: "SPT takes any act of vandalism on the system very seriously.

“Vandalism of any kind while the train is in service is particularly upsetting for passengers who just want to complete their journey safely without incident.

"Ultimately, these incidents only have a negative impact on our passengers as the train needs to be immediately removed from the system and cleaned before it can be returned to passenger service which takes time.”

A BTP spokesperson added: “We received reports at around 8.50pm yesterday (October 31) of criminal damage to a train carriage in Glasgow.

"Enquiries are ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 771 of October 31.”
