A Glasgow train line is to be temporarily blocked while engineers fix a signal issue.

Trains are unable to run between Glasgow Central and East Kilbride this morning (Sunday, November 3) due to a signal fault at Pollokshaws West.

Network Rail said engineers have identified the problem and they are working on it as quickly as possible.

To safely fix the issue, the line between Glasgow Central and Barrhead/Kilmarnock will close for around one hour from 9.30am.

ScotRail has said in the meantime, passengers can travel on Neilston / Cathcart Circle services as alternative routes and bus replacements have been requested.

The rail firm issued an update at 10.45am that the line had reopened and the signal issue had been resolved.

The first trains to depart to/from East Kilbride will be the: 1048 Glasgow Central to East Kilbride and the 1126 East Kilbride - Glasgow Central.
