A woman is fighting for her life after being hit by a pickup truck in Rutherglen.
The 40-year-old was struck by the orange Mistubishi L200 while walking on Farmeloan Road on Saturday evening.
Emergency services were called to the scene at around 8pm and the woman was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.
Medics are describing her condition as critical.
Meanwhile, the 33-year-old male driver was arrested in connection with road traffic offences and is due to appear at Glasgow Sheriff Court on Monday, November 4, 2024.
Officers are continuing to establish the full circumstances of the crash.
Sergeant Andrew Coutts said: “I would ask anyone who may have witnessed the crash, or who may have dash-cam footage, and has not yet spoken to or provided this information to officers, to contact us as soon as possible.”
