Visitors to Silverburn are set to take to the ice in a ‘Christmas first’ for the shopping centre.
Licensing chiefs in Glasgow have approved plans for an ice rink to be installed on a car park at the centre.
Temporary public entertainment licences have been awarded to the organisers, covering November 22 to January 5.
Audrey Junner, the licensing lawyer representing BM Promotional Leisure, said: “It is the first time that an ice rink has actually been planned for Silverburn at Christmas.
“It’s great to see that they are investing into this area and putting something into this space.”
She said her clients were “very, very experienced in this area”. They run ice rinks in other cities, including London, Manchester and Sheffield.
Silverburn On Ice will be held in the centre’s red car park, near to Marks & Spencer. Permission has also been granted for a ferris wheel and a food stall.
Skating sessions are expected to be 45 minutes long. More information can be found at: https://www.onice.co.uk/locations/silverburn
