A Glasgow road has been blocked off by police as a remembrance parade takes place.

Several police vans have been stationed on Bain Street and London Road near the Barras market in the East End on Sunday morning.

It comes after the council approved a march there involving 70 participants from the Bridgeton Apprentice Boys of Derry.

An eyewitness said the presence appeared to be a barricade for the band.

They told the Glasgow Times: "I was driving down London Road when I saw blue flashing lights. Everyone started doing a U-turn as police wouldn’t let anyone past.

“At one side, I could see the marching band standing outside the barricade and not able to go any further due to police."

A group of young men wearing balaclavas were also pictured standing near St Alphonsus Catholic Church.

Our eyewitness added: "Inside was a group of people dressed head to toe in black with their faces covered.

“No one was saying anything but there was hunners of polis.”
