Two people were taken to hospital after police responded to a 'potentially hazardous substance' in Glasgow.

Cops were called to an address on Newington Street in the East End following a report of a man taking unwell on Sunday, November 10, shortly after 12.30pm.

It is believed the man took unwell as a result of a 'potentially hazardous substance'.

Emergency crews, including cops and paramedics, raced to the scene.

After that, a man and woman, both aged 44, were checked over by medics. Meanwhile, two further people, who were also unwell, were taken to hospital.

Following that, the man and woman have been charged in connection with the alleged incident.

A report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Around 12.40am on Sunday, November 10, officers were called to a property on Newington Street, Glasgow, following a report of a man having taken unwell, believed to be as a result of a potentially hazardous substance.

“The 44-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman were checked over by the Scottish Ambulance Service.

“Two further people also took unwell and were taken to hospital for assessment.

“The man and the woman have been charged in connection with the incident and a report will be sent to the Procurator Fiscal.”
