Vital 'life-saving' equipment at a park in Coatbridge has been destroyed.
North Lanarkshire Council revealed lifebelts at Drumpellier Loch in Drumpellier Country Park in the town were set on fire recently.
The local authority said police are now carrying out investigations into the incident.

Meanwhile, the council said lifebelts were also recently nicked from Lanark Loch in South Lanarkshire as well.
A spokesperson for North Lanarkshire Council said: "Public water rescue equipment.
"Recently lifebelts were stolen from Lanark Loch & lifebelts set on fire at Drumpellier Loch.
"Police are investigating.
"This life-saving equipment is vital at all times of the year but particularly now, when water is at freezing temperatures."

Meanwhile, a spokesperson for South Lanarkshire Council added: "Important information about vital public water rescue equipment at Lanark Loch and Drumpellier Loch. Police are investigating."

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: "We are appealing for information regarding the theft of 10 life buoys from the Lanark Loch area.
"Anyone with information regarding these life-saving devices can contact us through 101, quoting incident number 1229 of November 11."
