South Lanarkshire Council has revealed its bin collection dates for this Christmas season.

Announcing the news on social media, the local authority has said there will be no bin collections on Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26, and Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

The changes to collection days over the festive period are as follows:

  • Monday, December 23, Tuesday, December 24, Monday, December 30, and Tuesday, December 31 collections will remain the same.
  • Collections from Wednesday to Friday on the week of Christmas will be two days later.
  • Collections from Wednesday to Friday on the week of New Year will be one day later.
  • Normal waste collections will resume on Monday, January 6, 2025.

The council also revealed the collection of burgundy bins across the area will be suspended after Friday, December 20.

Meanwhile, residents looking to get bulk uplifts for their waste won't be able to after Friday, December 20 until Monday, January 6, 2025, as well.

A South Lanarkshire Council spokesperson said: "There will be no bin collections on Wednesday, December 25, Thursday, December 26 and Wednesday, January 1, 2025.

"Monday and Tuesday collections will be carried out as normal on Christmas week and New Year week. 

"Wednesday to Friday collections the week following Christmas will be carried out two days later than normal and collections on the week following New Year will be carried out one day later than normal.

"All collections will return to normal on Monday, January 6 2025."

They added: "The collection of burgundy bins will be suspended over Christmas and New Year.

"The last uplift date will be Friday, December 20. The first uplift date of 2025 will be Monday, January 6.

"Special bulk uplifts will be suspended over Christmas and New Year. The last uplift date will be Friday, December 20. The first uplift date of 2025 will be Monday, January 6.

"Our household waste and recycling centres will be closed on Christmas Day (Wednesday, December 25) and New Year’s Day (Wednesday, January 1).

"Opening times on other days are the same as regular winter opening times. Please remember that you will need to book a slot for all HWRC's."
