UPDATE: The road has now reopened, police have confirmed.

Police are urging drivers to avoid part of Glasgow's M8 this morning due to an incident.

Officers were alerted to a report of concern for a person at Junction 11 on the motorway near Easterhouse on Thursday, November 21.

The force was called to the incident shortly after 8.30am.

Emergency crews are in attendance. Due to the incident, cops have urged motorists to avoid the area.

We reported how Traffic Scotland has said the motorway's carriageway at Junction 10 (Westerhouse Road) has been shut in both directions.

 

 

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "The M8 eastbound at Junction 11 near to Easterhouse is closed following a report of concern for a person which was reported to police around 8.35am on Thursday, November 21, 2024.

"Emergency services are in attendance and drivers are advised to avoid the area where possible."

 

 

A spokesperson for Traffic Scotland said: 

Due to the incident, Stagecoach revealed its X19 and X25 services are facing delays. 

 

 

 

 

A spokesperson for the travel firm said: "Due to an accident on the M8 west bound there maybe delays to the X19 service."

A Scottish Ambulance spokesperson added: “We received a call at 8.39am today to attend an incident on the M8.

"We dispatched a number of resources to the scene, including our trauma team, and transported a patient to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital.”
