A Glasgow city centre road will be closed for almost two weeks.

Glasgow City Council has said Pitt Street will be shut between Bath Street and West Regent Street from 8am on Monday, November 25 until 5pm on Sunday, December 8.

On top of that, West Regent Street will also be closed between Pitt Street and Blythswood Square simultaneously.

The roads will be shut to allow the installation of carriageway infrastructure as part of the Holland Street Avenue project. 

The local authority says the project forms part of the Glasgow City Region City Deal 'Avenues' programme, which is aiming to transform the city centre's streetscape and public realm.

The proposed road and public realm footway enhancements on Pitt Street and West Regent Street will assist in achieving the project objectives and is a key connective element within the overall avenue objective. 

During the closure, a diversion will be in place for road users.

Meanwhile, the council has also revealed to carry out carriageway lining and traffic signal works, the southbound lane on Pitt Street between Bothwell Street and St Vincent Street will be shut from Friday, November 22 at 9.30am until 5pm on Tuesday, November 26.

In addition to the closure, a left turn ban from Bothwell Street onto Pitt Street will also be in place.

This closure will be in place to allow work as part of the Holland Street Avenue project as well.

A diversion will be in place for drivers.
