The series of by-elections, which were held on November 21, saw voters electing new councillors in  Drumchapel/Anniesland, Maryhill and North East wards. 

It follows the resignations of Maureen Burke and Patricia Ferguson, who became Labour MPs at the General Election in July, and Labour councillor, Keiran O’Neill, who stepped down to take up a role with the GMB Union in London.

Davena Rankin won the Drumchapel and Anniesland ward, Marie Garrity the Maryhill ward and Mary McNab the North East ward. 

(Image: (Image: LDRS)) The result doesn't change the make-up of the council as the seats were all previously held by Labour.

Commenting on Scottish Labour’s wins in Maryhill, North East, Drumchapel and Anniesland, Scottish Labour leader, Anas Sarwar said: “This fantastic set of results shows Scots are putting their trust in Scottish Labour to deliver a change in direction.

“Glasgow’s three new Scottish Labour Councillors will all be brilliant local champions for their communities.

“Our city has been let down by the SNP for too long, but Scottish Labour will stand up for Glasgow.

“Labour is delivering for communities across Scotland and working to deliver the change we need here in Scotland.”

Another by-election will take place later this year in the Partick East/Kelvindale ward following the death of SNP councillor Kenny McLean.
