COMMUTERS are being warned of disruption on a number of train lines in and around Glasgow. 

ScotRail has said that due to a signal fault between Hillfoot and Milngavie in East Dunbartonshire, there has been 'some disruption' to services in the area. 

The issue was reported at around 8.40am on Saturday.

Engineers are being sent to the scene to investigate and are expected to arrive shortly. 

The rail operator also confirmed train services running from Springburn to Milngavie are subject to delays and alterations. 

A ScotRail spokesperson said: "We've got a signal fault between Hillfoot and Milngavie that's causing some disruption to our services.

"Network Rail engineers have been mobilised and will arrive on site shortly. Springburn/Milngavie services subject to delays and alterations."

Meanwhile, speed restrictions have been put in place on various Glasgow routes with some services facing cancellation due to Storm Bert. 

Trains running between Glasgow Queen Street and Oban will now start and terminate at Crianlarich.

Services will, however, continue to run between Queen Street and Mallaig. 

Trains travelling from Glasgow Central Station to Newcastle/Carlisle via Dumfries will now terminate and start from Dumfries. 

Services from Glasgow Central to Girvan/Stranraer via Kilmarnock are subject to various alterations and delays. 

ScotRail has also said an issue with the overhead lines at Drumgelloch Station in Airdrie is affecting services between Airdrie and Balloch.

Engineers are on site working to resolve the issue which is also impacting services from Helensburgh Central to Edinburgh.
