A pervert took a bath with two young schoolgirls and got one of them to perform a sex act on him.

James Aitchison, 46, preyed on his eight and six-year-old victims at a property in Rutherglen, Lanarkshire.

Naked Aitchison joined the pair in the bath and initially asked them to wash him.

One of the girls left the bathroom, leaving the other girl alone in the company of Aitchison, who got her to do the sex act.

Matters didn't emerge until later when both girls bravely told adults about what happened.

Aitchison pleaded guilty today at Glasgow Sheriff Court to two charges of causing a child to participate in sexual activity.

The charges span between November 2018 and October 2020.

The court heard that a woman caring for the two girls heard them discussing a bath in December 2021.

One of the girls recounted Aitchison, of East Kilbride, Lanarkshire, looking after them and running a bath which they got in together.

Aitchison brought the girls rubber ducks for them to play with before he stripped naked and entered the bath.

Prosecutor Danielle McGuinness said: "He asked the girls to wash his back and they did.

"He also asked them to touch his bits.

"One of the girls removed themselves from the bath and went into the living room, leaving the other girl alone with Aitchison."

The hearing was told that Aitchison made her perform sex acts on him in the bath.

Aitchison was later traced after the matter was reported to the police and he was arrested.

Linzi McQuade, defending, told the court that her client has never served a custodial sentence.

Matters were deferred pending background reports by Sheriff Tony Kelly, who granted bail and placed Aitchison on the sex offenders register meantime.
