Police have issued an appeal to the public after a man who died on a Glasgow street has remained unidentified despite extensive efforts to trace his family.

The man was discovered unresponsive on Nelson Street in the Tradeston area around 6pm on May 8 and died in the early hours of May 9 at Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

Despite continued enquiries, officers have so far been unable to confirm his identity and notify his next of kin.

Detective Constable Alasdair Hood said: "This is a tragic situation and despite a substantial effort by officers, we unfortunately still don’t have an identity.

"We are doing all we can to establish who this man is in order to inform his next of kin.

"We know this may be someone’s loved one who could be missing their dad, son or brother.

"If anyone has information, no matter how insignificant it may seem, please get in touch with us."

The man is described as white, aged between 40 and 50, around 5ft 7in tall, and weighing roughly 60kg.

He had short brown and grey hair, a red and grey beard, and several noticeable facial scars: a 5cm scar from his right eye to his forehead, a 3.5cm scar at his left eyebrow, and a 3cm scar to the bridge of his nose.

He was wearing a green Adidas tracksuit top with white stripes, dark trousers, and dark trainers.

He was also found with a sleeping bag cover in a grey camouflage pattern.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101 quoting reference 2919 of May 8, 2026.
