GLASGOW actress Sharon Rooney has opened up about her excitement at starring in the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster Barbie.
The 33-year-old, who has starred in My Mad Fat Diary and Two Doors Down, will join the likes of Ryan Gosling and Margot Robbie in the live-action romantic comedy, which is due to be released in July 2023.
Speaking about her busy schedule on Go Radio, Rooney revealed that she has another secret project soon after wrapping filming.
She told hosts Grado and Crofty: "I've just finished Barbie. I've spent so long keeping it a secret that I feel like I'm not allowed to say that but I am allowed to say that!
"I still feel like someone's going to jump out my wardrobe and give me into trouble for saying it!
"But yeah, I've just wrapped on that last week but I've got a couple of weeks off before I go into my next thing which I'm not allowed to talk about!"
Rooney first revealed the exciting news of her role in the Warner Bros production back in April on Instagram.

Posting a photo of herself in a bright pink suit, she wrote: "Don’t let me ever hear you say dreams don’t come true because they do!
"So buy that hot pink power suit and go for your dreams because magic things happen when you believe in YOU! Barbie, the best adventure yet."
Speaking on Tuesday's radio show, Rooney also explained why viewers haven't seen her in the popular Glasgow-based series Two Doors Down as Sophie, the daughter of Elaine C Smith's character Christine.
She said: "I was filming Dumbo at the same time as Two Doors Down went again and I just couldn't do it at the same time!"
