Pride is returning to Glasgow, seeing thousands from across Scotland celebrate the progress made on LGBT rights over the last few decades.
Glasgow has hosted a Pride event since 2004 with the current march becoming the largest such event in Scotland.
With so many people set to attend and only weeks to go before the march, here is everything you need to know about Glasgow Pride 2023.
What is Pride?
Members of the LGBT community have historically used pride to increase visibility while demanding more rights.
The first Pride Parade was held on June 28, 1970, on the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Uprising in New York.
How many people attend Glasgow Pride?
Glasgow Pride is said to be the largest Pride event in Scotland with some 5000 people taking part in the march each year.
What is the Glasgow Pride theme for 2023?
According to the event's website, the theme this year will "celebrate an integral part of the pride movement which encompasses Marsha P Johnson and Sylvia Rivera, Lisa Power MBE, Lady Phyll, Sian James, and every Jill, including Princess Diana, of the LGBTQ+ community and movement."
The official theme for 2023 is: "Women of the LGBTQ+ Community and Movement."
Is Glasgow Pride free and do I have to register to take part?
Glasgow Pride is a free event for most people with large groups, charities and businesses needing to register and pay a fee (registering after 12/06/2023).
Small groups are also exempt from registering with such groups including those comprised of nine people or less without banners.
Groups needing to register can do so on Glasgow's Pride website.
The late registration fee for LGBT groups is £10, £50 for charities, £600 for small businesses and £1100 for large businesses (50 or more employees).
When is Glasgow's Pride 2023?
Glasgow's Pride is taking place on Saturday, July 15 with those wanting to join the march asked to arrive at Glasgow Green by 11.30am.
