Compiling the list, The Independent said that staying in a cabin or treehouse is the "perfect way to appreciate the beauty" on offer in UK forests.

The Treehouses at Lanrick in Perthshire was named one of the best treetop stays in the whole of the UK.
The newspaper notes that guests are invited to "embrace" the joys of "missing out" by disconnecting their devices and "reconnecting with nature".
The digital detox is located an hour's drive from Glasgow and Edinburgh, making it perfect for those looking to escape the stresses of metropolitan life.
The Scottish site features five "eco-friendly" treehouses set on the banks of the River Teith on the edge of the Trossachs National Park.
Each "luxury" cabin is built from timber sourced directly from the surrounding estate, featuring hand-crafted tables and upcycled furniture.
The newspaper adds: "The surrounding private woodland features a variety of walking and biking trails, along with a woodland sauna and refreshing plunge pool."

The staycation spot is popular with visitors on Tripadvisor, with users giving the location a 5/5 out of 151 reviews.
One person said they had an "amazing" couple of nights here, adding that it was an "absolutely perfect" way to unwind.
Another said: "What a stunning place! The treehouses are surrounded by acres of land with woodland and river walks, plus a sauna, plunge pool, bbq facilities and picnic huts."
Other places in the likes of Pembrokeshire in Wales and the Cotswolds in England were also featured on the travel list.
