GLENN DANIELS knows most of his Celtic team-mates are likely to have league-winner's medals around their necks come the end of the Scottish football season.

And the goalkeeper hopes he can clinch his own piece of silverware by helping Partick Thistle to the Irn-Bru First Division title.

With Hoops No.1 Fraser Forster in superb form as Neil Lennon's side race clear at the top of the SPL standings, as well as other glove rivals blocking his road to first-team football, Daniels has headed across Glasgow in a bid to sample some competitive action.

After Jags manager Jackie McNamara sent youngster Ryan Scully on loan to Albion Rovers, Daniels has been brought in as competition for Firhill No.1 Scott Fox, and the Belgian-born teenager is keen to make it a successful spell.

"The move all happened quite quickly," he explained. "We were on our way to play Crystal Palace after training in the morning and I was told that Thistle wanted to sign me on loan. About five hours later, it was done.

"I want to play games and hopefully I can do that here if I can get myself into the team. The training has been good and I have been enjoying it so far.

"Hopefully I can get some game time and impress the manager here. I know I need to keep working hard and hopefully I can get in the team.

"It is a great team to be at, especially with us going for the title this season. If I could go back to Celtic with a winner's medal that would be great."

Despite being part of the Hoops' development squad and still eligible to play in their NextGen series games, it is in the First Division where Daniels now has the chance to make his big break.

He is no stranger to his new environment and the young shot-stopper reckons he has gained an ideal grounding at Lennoxtown.

Daniels said: "I didn't really know what was going to happen this season and if I would be going out on loan. I am glad to be here and to have made the move.

"I have been at Firhill before with the Celtic Under-20 team so it is nice to be here for the rest of the season and hopefully I can do well here.

"It is going to be difficult to break into the first team at Celtic, but you have to have believe in yourself and just keep working hard. I am still young so I just need to try and impress the manager."

HE ADDED: "Fraser Forster is a great guy and a great goalkeeper. All the keepers at Celtic get on really well and he's great to work with.

"He has had a terrific season so far and you can see his hard work in training paying off.

"It is great to have been able to train with all the keepers and staff at Celtic."
