PARTICK THISTLE have held talks with Falkirk keeper Michael McGovern over a summer switch to Firhill.
Jags boss Alan Archibald has targeted a new shot-stopper as one of his priority signings during the close season after deputy Glenn Daniels returned to parent club Celtic at the end of his short-term loan deal.
Thistle No.1 Scott Fox has already committed his future to the club by signing a new two-year deal but Archibald is keen to bring in some competition for the Jags gloves, with youngster Ryan Scully the only other first-team option on his books.
McGovern has had another impressive campaign for the Bairns but with his contract due to expire this summer he is available on a free transfer.
Discussions have taken place over a possible move as Archibald looks to add to his squad ahead of Thistle's return to the Scottish Premier League next season.
The Jags boss has already told Steven Craig and Andy Dowie they will not be offered new deals to remain at Firhill, while captain Paul Paton and striker Chris Erskine have agreed switches to Dundee United.
As well as looking for on-field reinforcements, Archibald will also have to add to his backroom team in the coming weeks after goalkeeping coach Craig Hinchcliffe became the latest Thistle to pen a deal at Tannadice.
The 41-year-old has spent six seasons at Firhill after joining from St Mirren and has been a valuable member of the Thistle coaching staff in recent years, helping Fox to become one of the Irn-Bru First Division's top keepers and into the PFA Scotland team of the year this season.
Meanwhile, Morton boss Allan Moore is on the trail of former Livngston defender Craig Barr, ex-Hearts youngster Gordon Smith and Alloa midfielder Kevin Moon as he looks to reshape his squad for another shot at First Division title glory next term.
