AS a football man, I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed the World Cup.

There was a lot of seriously entertaining games, loads of talking points and some of the goals were utterly spectacular.

France were the best team in Russia and were deserved winners at the end of a tournament which showed up where the game is going. At least for me,

I can’t remember anyone who really played an expansive style of football like Arsenal when they were at their best or, tin hat on, Celtic on a good day.

Croatia were terrific as were Belgium, which ought to give the smaller countries a bit of hope, and certainly inspiration, that they can compete at the highest level.

What a player he is for any age, never mind at just 19. The lad is frightening.

Mbappe has a bit of everything. His pace is incredible, as is his touch, finishing and ability to spot a pass.

He gets people off their seats and also plays with a smile on his face, and that’s something you don’t see enough of these days.

The young Frenchman is a superstar.

I would love to see him at Rangers and I’m sure Steven Gerrard would as well. All he has to do is get the club to find £300million to get home to Glasgow from PSG.

That should be simple enough!
