I know a few people might be getting a little impatient about the lack of new faces at Celtic so far but I have to say that you really need to put your trust in the manager.
He hasn’t done too much wrong since he set foot at the club and you have to think that he is holding out to ensure that he gets the quality that he wants.
It is one thing to go and bring in numbers but it is another thing entirely to bring in the little bit of quality that genuinely makes the difference.
It is quite clear that Celtic would like to add John McGinn and I am pretty sure that the board will go out and get that done over the next few weeks or so. But for me there is already much to be excited about.
I am forever wary of reading too much into pre-season games but I was surprised at just how on it Celtic were against Standard Liege on Saturday afternoon. They just blew them away.
And if we are talking about quality then you just can’t miss the combination of Moussa Dembele and Odsonne Edouard.

Again, it is early days but they look as though they have the makings of a genuinely exciting parternship. Edouard has hit the ground running and the two of them just have everything - they are lean, powerful, big, strong guys who know where the goal is.
Edouard’s finish on Saturday was exceptional and I just wonder if Brendan will be tempted to go with a 3-5-2 formation this season in order to give the two of them the chance to play together.
