KENNY BURNS believes former Rangers striker Jason Cummings should have been given another chance to impress at Nottingham Forest this season.
Cummings spent the second half of last term at Ibrox after falling out of favour with Aitor Karanka.
He still has two years left on his deal with Forest but has again been sent out on loan and will spend the campaign at Peterborough.

But Reds legend Burns reckons his former club have missed a trick by letting the forward leave this summer.
He said: “I thought Jason Cummings was actually a bit better than getting a move to a League One club.
“I did think he might get a chance at Nottingham Forest. He’s quick and he can run around the pitch.
“We need someone with a bit of pace up front, because when you’re under pressure that can be a useful outlet and it causes defenders problems. We could have done with that, so I was a bit surprised to see him join Peterborough United on loan.
“But Aitor Karanka obviously doesn’t fancy him, so going
to Posh can be a good move. It’s hopefully a chance to get regular game time, which he desperately needs.
“He didn’t play much for us and he was in and out of the team during his time on loan at Rangers, so he really needs a run of matches to get his confidence up.
“In today’s game you seem to see a lot of players who are quite happy to sit in the stands or on the bench every week and just pick up their pay cheque.
“Some of them don’t seem like they are trying hard enough to get a game; they just don’t seem bothered.
“So I do think you’ve got to give credit to players like Cummings who want to go somewhere else to try to get a game.”
