STEVEN GERRARD has spoken positively about Ross McCrorie a couple of times since he has come into Rangers and it will be a real boost for him to have started against Bury and in the two Europa League qualifiers with Shkupi.
Steven trusts him as a midfielder and I don’t think there is any doubt that the holding role is his best position and where the manager sees him going forward.
I played at the back, in the middle and up front during my Rangers career and I was delighted to get a game. I would have played anywhere for Rangers.

Ross is the same and he has that love for the club. He will do whatever job the manager asks of him and having that flexibility in your game isn’t a bad thing.
Being able to play different positions is not a negative for a youngster but it is clear Steven wants him to be in the middle of the park and hopefully he can bring out the best in Ross this season.
He has got all the attributes. He is quick, strong, he closes down players, he can tackle and he can pass. He can do it all and has a bright future ahead of him.

The chance to work with Steven and Gary McAllister is one that Ross will be determined to make the most of, as will all of the midfielders in the squad I am sure.
You look at the careers that they had and how good they were as midfielders, and if you can’t learn from them then there is something far wrong.
I would like to think the midfield will get stronger as the season goes on because of Steven and Gary’s influence and hopefully Ross is one of the younger ones that really benefits from that.
