CELTIC manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed that striker Moussa Dembele will miss the Champions League double-header with Rosenborg as he recovers from injury.
The Frenchman limped off during the second half of the Bhoys' 3-0 second leg win over Alashkert last week and faces two to three weeks on the sidelines.
However, there is better news for Odsonne Edouard, who appears to have recovered in time for Wednesday's visit of the Norwegian champions.
“Moussa will be out for a few weeks,” Rodgers told the Celtic View.
“Thankfully it’s not a longer-term hamstring. Sometimes these things can be six to eight weeks but it’s not that - it’s two to three weeks maximum. It was unfortunate for him as he’s looked very fit in pre-season.
“We had a scare with Odsonne as well and he only just re-joined training on Monday. After the game, his knee had swollen up. He hadn’t trained for a few days but he looked fine on Monday in training.
“Whether Odsonne is up there on his own or he’s playing with someone, he’s already proven, he can play the role really well.”
Fellow striker Leigh Griffiths is expected to return to training later this week along with winger Jonny Hayes.
Celtic host Rosenborg in the first leg of their second qualifying round tie on Wednesday before travelling to Trondheim for the return on 1 August.
The winner will face AEK Athens of Greece in the third round, while the loser will drop into the Europa League qualifiers and take on Cork City.
