MICKEL MILLER was glad that Hamilton boss Martin Canning kept the reins on him last season but insists he now raring to go.
The 22-year-old striker had scored 25 goals before Christmas for non-league side Carshalton Athletic before Accies came calling in January to take him to the Ladbrokes Premiership for an undisclosed fee.
After making his debut in a 2-0 win against Lanarkshire rivals Motherwell in March, he featured only six times as Hamilton fought for survival.
However, after starting with four goals so far this season - one in the 4-1 defeat by Hearts in their opening Ladbrokes Premiership fixture last week – Miller is ready to show his wares.
He said: "I didn't really get much game time when I came in but I have got my chance this season and hopefully I can keep scoring.
"I knew the position the club was in and the decision the manager made was good for me because I was from non-league so throwing me in the deep end might not have been good.
"Now, he is putting me in and I look as if I am getting ready although I am still learning every day.
"I was on 25 goals by Christmas [at Carshalton] although the standards are much lower there.
"My aim is to get in the teens by Christmas. I don't know how it will go but I hope so."
Miller is looking forward to another taste of the Lanarkshire derby at Fir Park on Saturday.
He said: "I am buzzing to play. I can't wait to get on the pitch, knowing it is a derby as well, knowing that I scored in the last game.
"So I just want to get on the pitch and score more goals".
