GORDON: No chance with low rifled shot passed him. Will be looking for greater protection from his defence tomorrow night. (6)
LUSTIG: Got forward on occasion but struggled to impose himself. Took a kick from Kyle Lafferty in the early stages. (5)
SIMUNOVIC: Loose pass in the build-up to Hearts’ goal and had a real problem trying to contain Uche Ikpeazu. The powerful Hearts forward ensured that Simunovic didn’t have a chance to settle at the back. (5)
HENDRY: Struggled at the back. The physicality of Lafferty and Ikpeazu made for a difficult afternoon for him and was shrugged off the ball by the latter as Hearts netted the only goal of the game. (5)
TIERNEY: Tried to gee up those around him – at one point after being cemented in the middle of the park. Worked his socks off but couldn’t find a way through. (6)
HAYES: Took a sore one on the cusp of half-time and for which Steven Naismith could consider himself fortunate to stay on the park. Had cemented the Hearts player in the build-up to the incident but his retaliatory kick and aggression in the aftermath will surely bring retrospective punishment from the SFA. (5)
KOUASSI: Struggled. Hasn’t played much football but looked out of his depth and never managed to find his feet in the middle of the park. Toiled throughout. (4)
BROWN: Difficult afternoon for the Celtic captain. Hearts’ Peter Haring dominated the central pastures and Brown wasn’t able to stamp his authority on the game. (6)
MCGREGOR: Has become one of the big-game players for Celtic over the last 18 months but he toiled to really get involved in the fray. Had one effort on target in the second period. (5)
SINCLAIR: Made his debut for Celtic at Tynecastle and hit the ground running against the Edinburgh side. Has lost his way since then and he toiled throughout the game on Saturday afternoon. (5)
GRIFFITHS: Replaced by Edouard on the hour mark. Had one effort cleared off the line in the opening period but never quite managed to give the Hearts defence a major problem, even after Berra went off. (6)
EDOUARD: Rested with tomorrow night’s game in Athens in mind. Came on as Celtic went on the hunt for a goal but never really looked as though he would trouble Hearts. (4)
FORREST: Nutmegged by Jake Mulraney at one stage in the second period, much to the delight of the home support. Arrived in the second period as Celtic were trailing and he and Rogic looked most likely to inject a bit of life into Brendan Rodgers’ side. (6)
ROGIC: Came on the second period and looked the most likely source of a goal for Celtic. Had one effort which curled just over the bar and tried another couple of efforts from distance.(6)
