St Mirren manager Alan Stubbs has admitted defeat in his bid to sign Kenny Miller.
The former Rangers and Scotland striker is reportedly poised to sign for Dundee after leaving his job as Livingston player/manager last week.
Stubbs said: "It wasn't for the want of trying. I don't think it has come down to finances, from what I was told.
"I had an initial conversation with Kenny five or six days (ago) and then we have left it in the hands of the club to deal with. The one to get the answers from would probably be Kenny. So we move on."
