Rangers goalkeeper Allan McGregor will face no retrospective punishment from the SFA after being caught on camera aiming a kick at Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer.
The Scotland keeper will escape sanction after three former match officials assessed the footage of the incident.
There was no unanimous agreement from the trio that the case was worthy of prosecution through the SFA’s fast-track disciplinary process - all three of the ex-category one referees must arrive at the same decision for a notice to be raised.
Up until this season the match referee would be asked about the incident and if he accepted he had missed the flashpoint, he would then be allowed to review video footage of it. If necessary he could then make the call that he had missed a red card offence and a notice of complaint would be issued.
Under the new system the match referee no longer offers an opinion on the incident. Instead, three officials review the footage separately and then offer their opinion. For any action to be taken they must be unanimous in their verdict.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard had admitted after Sunday's game that had the official spotted the incident which occured midway through the opening period of the game which Celtic won 1-0 that McGregor would have been off.
It is the second time in as many weeks that McGregor has found himself in the dock and then subsequently cleared.
McGregor is currently on Scotland duty ahead of Friday’s game with Belgium and Monday's game against Alabania and will now be free for the Ibrox clash with Dundee after the international break.
