HOW on earth referee Kevin Clancy saw the incident between Jon Flanagan and Scott Brown and decided that it merited just a yellow card is beyond me. It’s just bewildering.
I don’t want to make excuses, because Rangers were the better team and deserved their win, but it was a remarkable error.
I’ve had a few red cards myself over the years for similar incidents, and I wish I had Kevin Clancy refereeing those games!
It sums up where we are in Scotland this season with our officials. When the referees get together and go over some of these decisions in the summer, there will be more than a few who will struggle to look in the mirror.
There are at least half a dozen real shockers I can name off the top of my head, and every fan will be the same.
I appreciate the game is faster than ever and it is such a difficult job, but the SFA need to do something about the overall standard of officiating in this country. It’s simply not been good enough this year.
