Celtic have complained to Sky Sports over Kris Boyd's criticism of Leigh Griffiths, according to a report.

Griffiths aimed a 'shush' gesture at Boyd following his goal at Rugby Park on Wednesday evening in response to the former Rangers man claiming he had just four weeks to save his Hoops career.

Boyd upped the ante during his time as a pundit on Sky Sports on the night, questioning Griffiths' commitment citing a stat claiming that he played just 34 games from a possible 135 since Brendan Rodgers took over - suggesting his lack of dedication.

In the bigger picture, Griffiths had been battling personal demons related to his mental health, an issue Boyd failed to address or give a second thought.

Now, according to the Scottish Sun, Celtic representatives have written to Sky Sports following the spat to request clarification over their pundit's comments.

Herald and Times Sport have approached Celtic for comment.

It comes as captain Scott Brown backed his teammate. "Everyone has had criticism," he said. "I'm sure Boydy is big enough and ugly enough to deal with it too. I think it's part and parcel of the game. I've had it, Leigh's had it, it's just about how you bounce back."
