IANIS Hagi, the son of Romanian great Gheorghe, today revealed he was "honoured" to join Rangers on loan.
The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has moved to the Ibrox club subject to international clearance.
Rangers have an exclusive option to buy the player, who has 10 full international caps, in the summer.
Speaking to Rangers TV, Hagi said: “It is a great honour to play at such a huge club with a lot of history and I am looking forward to meeting everyone in the club and I can’t wait for the first training session.
“Being in such a huge club and having this mentality of winning every game made me take this decision and I am really happy.
“I can’t wait to meet the fans and I can’t wait for them to meet me and try to build this relationship as good as possible.”
Hagi impressed onlookers during last summer’s Euro Under-21 Championships in Italy and helped his country reach the semi-finals.
He scored twice and came up against new Ibrox team mate Niko Katic.
He began his career at Viitorul Constanta, where his famous father was manager, in his homeland and was named Romanian Young Player of the Year in 2015.
Hagi moved to Italian giants Fiorentina in 2016, before returning to Viitorul in 2018.
He helped them claim the Romanian Cup last season. Indeed, in 31 appearances in 2018/19, he netted 10 times for his club.
He joined Genk in a €8 million transfer last summer and has made 19 appearances – including in five Champions League group stage games against Liverpool, Salzburg and Napoli - for the Belgian champions.
Rangers manager Steven Gerrard said: ”We are delighted to be able to add Ianis to the squad of players for the second half of the season.
“We have been scouting him for some time and it was clear that he has the quality to help to make a difference to the team.”
Rangers sporting Director Ross Wilson added: “It’s fantastic to welcome Ianis to Rangers and we are all looking forward to him joining up with the rest of the squad and we are sure our fans will give him a warm welcome.
“This deal has been structured in such a way that it works for us now and gives us options for the future.”
