Former Rangers defender Richard Foster claims Sasa Papac suffered for three months after he was knocked out by Mark Wilson's strike during the 2011 'shame game' at Parkhead.
Wilson netted the winner in the cup clash after Papac had headed his initial strike off the line. But Foster, who played right-back that night in Glasgow, says the Bosnian was not right for a while after the head injury which brought on migraines due to a car accident from his early life.
The ex-St Johnstone and Ross County player also recalled Madjid Bougherra being sent-off for dissent by referee Calum Murray before the Algerian grabbed the whistler and refused to let him officially brandish the card. And all this after Stephen Whittaker had been red carded earlier in the evening.
Speaking on Si Ferry's Keeping the Ball on the Ground podcast, Foster recalled: "The referee ruined the game as a contest because he sent Whittaker off. His second tackle was a booking and it was stupid because he's been booked, but his first one Ki played a one-two and Whitts followed the ball. He turned away but leaves his leg there and Ki runs over it. It's a foul but he doesn't mean it.
"That's after 10 minutes and you're thinking, 'That's an early booking in an Old Firm game', and then the s*** hits the fan. Sasa Papac had been in a car accident when he was younger and had loads of metal plates in his head. When he heads the ball off the line, it f***ed him for about three months. He had migraines all the time.
"At the end of the game the referee has sent Madjid Bougherra off but Bougy is right in his face and puts his hands on both his arms. Bougherra is obviously a big, strong guy and the referee is shaking trying to get him off but he can't move. Bougherra was just holding him as he was trying to get his hand up to give him the red card.
"When I look back that's the bit that gets me every time. The amount of rage and tension in that game and there's the referee who can't move because he's been clamped."
