Rangers
Jon McLaughlin – 6
Didn’t have much to do but produced a couple of stops early in the first-half to deny St Mirren an equaliser.
James Tavernier – 6
Final delivery into the box not up to scratch, but looked a threat on the right flank.
Connor Goldson – 7
Towered above Obika and won every aerial dual. Looked comfortable playing alongside Balogun.
Leon Balogun – 8
Looks a real find. Composed and assured on the ball at the heart of the Rangers defence.
Borna Barisic – 6
Got forward well but final ball into the box was poor. Defended well for the little he had to.
Glenn Kamara – 6
Used in a defensive role so didn’t have as much of an impact as he would have liked. Not pressurised in the middle of the park.
Ryan Jack – 6
Didn’t put a foot wrong in midfield, but could have looked forward more instead of using easy sideway option.
Joe Aribo – 7
Influential in the final third and always finding space. Outstanding pass in the build-up for third goal.
Ianis Hagi – 6
A quiet game for his standards, but still looked a threat at the top end of the pitch.
Ryan Kent – 8
St Mirren couldn’t handle his tricky footwork. Looked a real danger every time he was on the ball.
Alfredo Morelos – 8
Hungry and much improved from Thursday’s trip to Germany. Linked up well with Kent, Hagi and Aribo and most importantly back on the scoresheet.
Subs
Cedric Itten – 3
Looked a presence when he came on and a different option up top for Steven Gerrard.
Steven Davis – 3
Got on the ball and looked forward as much as he could.
Scott Arfield – 4
Looked energetic after being introduced off the bench.
Brandon Barker – 4
Had a couple of bursts in the final third but nothing of real note.
Calvin Bassey – 3
Got forward a couple of times but couldn’t direct any crosses into Itten.
St Mirren
Jak Alnwick – 8
On the receiving end of a heavy defeat but it could have been a lot more. A fine showing on his return to Ibrox.
Marcus Fraser – 4
Had a tough shift with Ryan Kent running at him. Barisic on the outside also caused the former Ross County defender problems.
Joe Shaughnessy – 5
Struggled with the attacking threat of Rangers. Tried his best to shut down Morelos but the striker got the better of him.
Conor McCarthy – 3
Looked shaky at the back with a couple of miscued clearances. One of which found the back of the net for the opener.
Richard Tait – 4
Struggled against Joe Aribo and James Tavernier. Was overloaded at times and found it hard to stop cross balls.
Cammy MacPherson – 3
Looked confident on the ball but poor from set pieces for Saints.
Sam Foley – 4
Tried to break up the play but went missing and wasn’t his usual driving force.
Nathan Sheron – 4
Debuts won’t get much harder than a match against Rangers at Ibrox. He will have better days for Saints.
Jamie McGrath – 6
Couple of nice touches in midfield and had a few attacking runs in the final third.
Ilkay Durmus – 5
Got on the ball but struggled to find a teammate at the top end of the pitch.
Jonathan Obika – 5
Tough game up front on his own against two towering centre backs – but put himself about.
Subs
Junior Morias - 2
Failed to make an impact in the dying stages of the Ibrox encounter.
Kyle McAllister – 2
Put in a defensive shift in the closing stages.
Ethan Erhahon – 1
On too late to make an impact.
Isak Thorvaldsson – 1
Game was gone as he entered the pitch.
Lewis Jamieson – 1
On with five minutes remaining – a rough gig.
