ITALIAN giants AC Milan are the latest club to be linked with a move for Celtic's star striker Odsonne Edouard - and the Serie A side are prepared to offer the Hoops Diego Laxalt as part of a swap deal to secure the Frenchman's signature.

Edouard, 23, has been attracting admirers from all over the continent with his goalscoring form since pitching up in Glasgow in 2018, with 81 goals 163 appearances.

The French forward recently became the top-scoring player in the history of his country's under-21 set-up and with his current deal at Parkhead set to expire at the end of next season, Celtic chiefs may be forced to cash in on their star man this summer - or risk losing him for nothing in a year's time.

According to Italian newspaper il Corriere dello Sport, Milan are mulling over a bid for Edouard - and could use Laxalt as a makeweight in negotiations.

The Uruguyan has been first-choice left-back at Celtic this season, making 25 appearances in all competitions, but had to settle for a place on the bench for the weekend's 6-0 mauling of Livingston.

Reports in Italy cited a source at Milan claiming a swap deal including "an economic adjustment in favour of Celtic" could be on the cards, meaning a player-plus-cash transfer.

The San Siro club are believed to value Laxalt at around £8million, which would mean a significant decrease in the final sum offered to Celtic for Edouard.
