NEWCASTLE United 'are advancing' their interest in Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer with the Premier League outfit weighing up an £8million move for the centre-back - according to reports.
The 23-year-old is among a host of Hoops stars expected to leave Parkhead this summer, with Ajer likely to be available for a cut-price fee.
Ajer - just like his team-mates Ryan Christie and Odsonne Edouard - is on a deal that expires at the end of next season, meaning Celtic could be forced to sell when the window reopens - or risk losing him for nothing in a year.
The Daily Mail are reporting that Newcastle - long-term admirers of the Norwegian - "are advancing" their pursuit of the Hoops star, and believe that a bid of around £8m could convince the Premiership runners-up to cash in on the centre-half.
