Chris Sutton has aimed a tongue-in-cheek dig at Celtic star Callum McGregor on his birthday - for nicking his celebration.

Sutton starred for the Hoops for six years, netting 130 goals in that time and was a much-loved figure among supporters.

His well-known celebration is a favourite among fans with the Englishman netting some memorable goals in his spell at the club.

After the club wished their Scotland ace a Happy Birthday via social media, showing a GIF of McGregor's similar gesture to Sutton's iconic cele, the retired frontman was quick to respond.

He wrote: "Happy Birthday Callum and I hope you have a great day but get your own celebration please,” with a laughing emoji alongside it.

The tweet racked up hundreds of likes and fans of the Glasgow giants were happy to weigh in with their thoughts. One laughed: " He stole it off you big man."

Another added: "He’s got a brand new one for the screamer he is going to score on Friday Chris."

McGregor will undoubtedly be hoping to celebrate his birthday in style later this afternoon with a win over the Czech Republic in Scotland’s opening Euro 2020 match.

It may be the Hoops star’s birthday, but a goal from the midfielder today would be the greatest gift for all for the Tartan Army.
