Summer international tournaments give players a chance to soak up the glory of representing their country at on the continental stage.

But they have also created an opportunity for players to showcase their talents to a wide audience and perhaps make their names known and interest some big clubs.

Here at the Herald and Times Sport we have looked at some of the players making a name for themselves so far at this summer’s Euros.

Alexander Isak – Sweden

Glasgow Times:

Sweden are flying at the top of their group in the Euros with four points in the opening two games. And their star man by far has been 21-year-old Real Sociedad forward Isak.

While he’s yet to score in the competition, his creative and attacking performances have been crucial in both games.

Quick with his feet and able to turn defence to attack in an instant, Isak is already being scouted by big-name clubs across Europe.

Patrik Schick – Czech Republic

Glasgow Times:

With three goals in two games, one of which is already being tipped as goal of the tournament, Schick has been a phenomenal presence up front for the Czechs.

Scoring twice to outdo Scotland at Hampden he looked a dangerous presence that Steve Clarke’s team couldn’t deal with.

And in the following game against Croatia he was a persistent threat, winning and scoring the penalty which would earn his side a draw and almost guarantee progression from the group stages.

Andriy Yarmolenko & Roman Yaremchuk – Ukraine

Glasgow Times:

It is rare to see such a well-flowing partnership at international level as the one enjoyed by the two Ukrainian team-mates. With two goals and an assist each in the tournament the dynamic duo have helped sink North Macedonia and push the Netherlands all the way in the opening two games.

Yarmolenko, a tricky and creative winger with a deadly finish. And Yarmechuk, a six-foot-three physical presence up front, have formed a killer partnership that could help the Ukrainians go deep into the tournament.

Connor Roberts - Wales

Glasgow Times:

Wales have haven’t had it easy in the opening games of their group stage. With tough ties against Switzerland and Turkey they were always going to be up against it.

But hard work and determination has paid out as they’ve taken four points from the two games and all but secured their place in the next round.

And Swansea’s Connor Roberts has had a big part to play. Looking solid in defence and scoring a late goal to see off Turkey, the defender is making a name for himself at the tournament.

His goal was important, but his defensive display even more crucial. Roberts could be an important player in the games to come.

Manuel Locatelli – Italy

Glasgow Times:

The Italians are back. Quick-paced and with goals in their game, Italy are looking very good heading to the knockout stage.

And one man who is making his presence known is Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli.

Scoring twice against Switzerland and looking solid in midfield for the Italians, the 23-year-old is catching the eye of many clubs across Europe and could be a crucial player in an Italian side who may go all the way in the tournament.

It will be interesting to see who else emerges from the shadows in the competition, and whether any of these players will be rewarded with a move to a big club over the summer.
