Billy Gilmour is set to complete a medical with Norwich City after a loan deal with Chelsea has been agreed.
That is according to Sky Sports who say the Scotland midfielder has agreed to join the Canaries for the 2021/22 season.
Gilmour is still quarantining after contracting coronavirus during Euro 2020, but the 20-year-old is expected to complete his loan move in the coming weeks.
The former Rangers kid made 11 appearances for Chelsea last season, five of which came in the Premier League.
Gilmour's loan move comes as Graeme Souness urged him to stay at Chelsea to fight for his place.
Souness watched on as Gilmour pulled the strings for Scotland against England at Wembley at Euro 2020 and he reckons the 20-year-old has what it takes to become a first team regular at Chelsea.
He told Sky Sports: "Personally, I would keep him at Chelsea. I look at the boy Phil Foden at City and Pep [Guardiola] didn’t let him go out on loan.
"The reason I say that is quite simple. I look back at my own career and ask ‘how did I improve?’.
"There were no words of wisdom, there was no sentence that any coach ever said to me, there was no watershed moment in my career where I turned a corner.
"What made me better? I was 23, playing for Liverpool, the best team in the world, arguably, but certainly the best team in Europe.
"And I was playing with fabulous players in training every single day. I learned to think quicker, I learned to improve my touch and I learned to move the ball quicker.
"Just being around winners and top players - and Chelsea have bundles of them now - that will improve him more than going out and playing in a lesser team, when maybe it’s a battle and a slog every week.
"That’s how I see it and I think Phil Foden is an argument for that."
