Billy Gilmour was pestered by Grant Hanley and Rangers-daft Kenny McLean to join Norwich City on loan.
The former Ibrox kid signed a season-long loan deal at Carrow Road this week and explained how centre-half Hanley would constantly annoy him over his future after it became apparent that the Canaries wanted him.
Gilmour, 20, was impressive for Scotland at Euro 2020 and put in a man of the match appearance on his first start at Wembley against England. That undoubtedly had both Hanley and McLean further pushing for him to choose Norwich.
"With Grant, as soon as I came into the Scotland setup, he was with me every day and pestering me," Gilmour joked. "No, he was just talking about how good the club was and I was asking him questions. Kenny McLean was texting me, saying ‘Are you coming?’ and then when I told them I was coming, they were really happy for me.
"They’re Scottish and both senior players here so they’ll keep me in the right way here. They’ll show me what’s right and I’m looking forward to it."
Gilmour moves to the newly promoted Premier League outfit having just recently played at a major tournament for the Scots. The fact that came on the back of winning a Champions League trophy with his parent club Chelsea proves the youngster has a big future.
And he hopes to discover some of that potential for Norwich. Speaking to his new club's website, the midfielder said: "The manager has a lot of faith in young players. He was saying that he’ll fit you in if you’re ready. I can see by when Norwich got relegated and came back up, he stuck by them and that shows how much faith you should have in the manager as well.
"I can’t wait. There are very exciting times ahead, coming in for pre-season and seeing all the lads. Let’s get to it."
