GARY CALDWELL is set to join Manchester City's backroom staff, according to reports.
The former Celtic ace will team-up with the EPL giants as their new loan team coach.
The ex-Scotland internationalist left his temporary role as Newcastle U23s head coach last week, following a short-stint in the north east.
He spent just three weeks with the Magpies as the former Partick Thistle gaffer was asked to stand in on an interim basis after Chris Hogg departed for the MK Dons No.2 job.
Now, the Daily Mail's Craig Hope claims that Caldwell is ready to take on a new role with Pep Guardiola's Premier League champions.
The 39-year-old has also bossed Wigan and Chesterfield as well as the Jags.
After his short time in charge of Newcastle's U23s ended, he wrote on Twitter: "Enjoyed immensely being back on the grass coaching at the club that gave me my start in football.
"Thank you to all the players and staff for making me feel so welcome."
